Promoting Transparency in Oil and Gas Management Practices

The proposed project consists of four EITI workshops for Iraqi CSOs, government officials, independent regulatory bodies and media representatives. The project also includes an advocacy campaign which seeks to encourage the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) to become more engaged in Iraq’s EITI implementation process. Iraq’s next EITI report will include the oil and gas production and sales revenue figures from the Kurdistan Region (excluded from Iraq’s first EITI report published in 2011). Since the relationship between the KRG and Baghdad around EITI has been tense (mainly because IEITI has been


  • To raise awareness among various stakeholders in KRG on ways to enhance EI transparency in the region
  • To introduce decision-makers in KRG to EITI through high level advocacy meetings with ministry officials  (Ministry of Natural Resources)
  • To engage parliamentary and independent regulatory bodies (Commission of Integrity/COI and the Board of Supreme Audit) in the transparent and accountable management of oil revenues
