Workshop on Extractive Industries and Territorial Development in Piura Region

Seminario Permanente de Investigación Agraria (SEPIA) used RWI support to convene Peruvian academics, public officials, and civil society and political leaders to create a shared understanding of how the oil industry affects and should affect development in Piura, a rural, agricultural region that derives much of its income from oil revenues. After this workshop, SEPIA organized a public forum for candidates from the main political parties to discuss similar issues in addition to relevant regional policy measures.

SEPIA is an association of rural development professionals that has emerged as the most important decentralized forum for analysis and discussion of rural issues in Peru.
